Default Ls Tranny build?

I am going to rebuild my transmission in a few weeks and I want to know what can I do to make my 5th gear a little higher. I do alot of highway travel and I would like to better my gas mileage a little if possible. I do understand that the LS is the highest geared B-series tranny but i wasn't sure if it has the highest 5th gear. And my other question was, If I am going to do a LS/vtec swap to my DA should I put a LSD in. Keep in mind this car hasn't seen the track yet and probably won't see it that many times. I am just trying to build a fun street car.

The LS transmission has the highest geared 5th gear in a B-series transmission. I haven't explored trying to use a H22 or Accord F22 gears in a B-series transmission. It's something I'd like to try.

LSD - a must.

Can you explain a little more, where exactly is this going to benefit me enough to get my moneys worth. I don't really know the pros and cons to an LSD but I would really like to learn. If there is anyone that could give me a little more more input or maybe some experiences it would be greatly apreciated. Thanks and oh ya, I don't plan on running this on the track much, and im not looking to impress anyone there when I do run.

LSD - Limited Slip Differential will allow the car to output power to both wheels instead of having 1 wheel free-wheel.

Adding LSD to a transmission will benefit acceleration and is a great addition when doing any kind of racing. Having both wheels put out the power your engine is making is better then having one wheel put out and the other just spin with the direction the car is moving.
