Default LS 5th gear in SIR tranny?

Question: I'm wondering if it is possible to swap an LS 5th gear from an integra into my SIR tranny? I want to have the short ratio in gears 1-4, and a longer gear in 5th for more efficient highway driving.
Also, is it possible to add an LSD with this tranny?

Any help would be appreciated.

its possible but i wouldnt waste my time with the ls 5th. itll make next to no difference imo. having the car running well and your driving style will do way more for mileage.

lsd good idea.

I was on the gear calculator and it seems to make 700rpm difference at 80mph. I am in process of doing that right now,

if you're going all-motor, i say forget it. But if you're turbo charged, then yes go for it. I am running something similar to this gearing combo you're thinking about.

I have B16 casing with, GSR/LS 1st and 2nd gear, b16 3rd and 4th gear, LS 5th gear. JDM 98 spec R LSD with 4.400 final drive.
Mated to a LS/Vtec Turbo charged.

Perfect for daily driven B-series turbo charged engine. Awesome gas mileage and awesome performance.

You can ride in 2nd gear on the highway at 45mph, RPM is jux right for boost (one step away). Floor it you get the 2nd gearing of GSR tranny. Pop into 3rd you get the hard acceleration of the b16/type-r tranny. When you're done racing pop into the long gear of LS 5th gear. Turbo not spooling so fast compare to b16 tranny.
Longer life of your turbo.

Last night I got the gears in. It was really easy. being as they are the top ones on both shafts. I didn;t even have to press anything off. I just bounded the countershaft on the floor gently to knock the gears off of the shaft;. You need to be really careful doing this because as things loosen up it will want to fall apart . I will get the trans back in later this week.
