Default LS crank in b18c1?

Will there be any gain in doing this since the LS crank is bigger? i heard that there wont but i just want to make sure.

slight increase in torque, but the b18c rod bearings are much better at handling
the abuse. my personal opinion is to stick wwiht the b18c crank

is there anyway to make a LS crank handle as much abuse as a Gsr crank?

ACL bearings would probably help. but unlesss you are already rebuilding the bottom
end, all the parts and work involved arent worth the increase.
you would need aftermarket rods, or arp bolts with the stock rods, in which case
you wouldhave to have the big end of the rod resized. in the end you probably
spend a lot more

1 more questions for you man since you know alot about this. i want to know if the LS crankshaft is what makes the LS block no rev as high as a b18c?

LS crank=longer stroke, not as high revving...

so would adding a GSR crank to a LS block make it higher revving?

k last question before i go to sleep lol hopefully i would have it answered by tomrrow. would it be reliable to put a gsr crank in a ls block and putting a vtec head on the block? what would make this set up reliable? i know that it would practically be a gsr but i want to know if it would be as reliable as a gsr?

A LS crank can't rev as high as a GSR crank can because of the rod/stroke ratio, not because of the bearings. Putting a Gsr crank in a LS block with a GSR head will practiacally make it a GSR, minus the girdle. A LS crank in a B18C-1 will be a LS/vtec without the external oil line and it will already have a girdle. That is the best way to make a LS/vtec if you ask me, but it is the most expensive way. If you use the LS crank in any block you will need the LS rods.

Ok, so how complicated is it to use a gsr crank in an LS?? I'm building a LS now and i have both gsr and a LS crank.

What the other guy said is true: if you're going to build an LS-Vtec, the best way is LS crank into a Vtec block(like a GS-R). There are oil squirters that really help keep things running well.

If I were you, I'd take that block and crank(LS) to the best engine builder around and have them sort the **** out.

i'm not building ls/vtec though, I'm just building a ls. I'm just curious as to how i can use the gsr crank. I plan on just putting a ls crank in it, but i'm curious to see if its worth my while to put the gsr crank in instead. I've got the crower valvetrain so i know my head can handle the higher revs, not so sure about the bottom end though.

Rod Stroke Ratio has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ability to rev.
Primary points are bearings and stock rod bolts. if you get good bearings
and replacement rod bolts then it can rev just as high as a gsr.
Oh, also, LS has oil squirters also, they are in the rods.

Cool!!! I'm planning on using the LS crank, I'll save the GSR for now. I'm getting arp rod bolts, to take care of the rods. anything else i need to do in the LS? I'm takin everything to the machine shop real soon. I'll get ACL bearings for it too.

ive got a couple questions: when putting the LS/B20 crank in a B18C1 which rods would u use? LS/B20 or B18C? and just to be positive, there arent any piston to head clearance issues when doing this are there? and all the journals are the same size right? if i do use the ls crank in a B18C i could use he GSR bearings/thrust too correct?

i already got a GSR sleeved block w/ 85mm bore and 12.5CR pistons. im just tryin to research how to get a lil more out of it
