Low Oil Pressure Indicator
Guys,
I would like to start off by saying that this is an awesome forum. I've learned a great deal just by browsing. I searched the forum to see if I could find the answer to my question but I was unable to.
My question involves the low oil pressure indicator on the 1994 Accords (2.2 liter non-VTEC). Does the light depend strictly on oil pressure or does it take into account oil level? At what pressure (and/or level) will the sensor trigger the light? Also, will the light simply illuminate or will it flash as oil pressure gets dangerously low? Finally, the normal oil pressure at idle and at a higher RPM (3000 RPM, maybe?) would be helpful.
Thanks in advance for your help!

to the best of my knowledge, it only measures pressure...however...the level and the light sometimes go hand in hand....example, I had a car w/ a blown, leaking headgasket...I didn't fix it right away, and the light would come on as the level dropped....but when filled up it would go away. reason for the light was most likely do to the loss of pressure through the gasket...but anyway...hope that helped in someway
The oil light is measured by oil pressure, not the quantity of oil. You may want to: check your oil pump.
check the oil screen by taking the oil pan off to see if anything is clogged.
clean the oil screen.
check to see if you have any big dents blocking your oil screen on the oil pan.
If you are lacking oil pressure, you can burn out your main bearings quick and possibly destroy the motor.
