Default Low End Go Fast on SOHC

I have a 96 Civic with D16y8 and want to make it go from 0-60 quickly
i could care less about increasing anything above that

What would be basic things to increase this type of performance on my car
I also have a D16y7 i may be able to play with to build up

Well, anything that you do to increase 0-60 is typically going to help anything above that. What can you do to help it? Just about anything.

Better tires
lighter rims
lighter flywheel
no A/C or power steering
intake
exhaust
header
turbo/supercharger
cams
port and polish
suspension (for launching)

You need to be more specific. Are you looking at a budget? Are you opposed to doing anything specific (taking motor apart, F.I., etc.)??

Your question is just too open ended. There are pretty much 1001 things you can do to make it faster.

the best mod to increase 0-60 times is take out the backseat (for civics) and the passenger seat. Saves weight by getting rid of the seat(s), plus you don't have to haul people around

If you're open to forced induction.... A Greddy turbo kit will work wonders for a D16Y8 (civic EX). IF it is tuned correctly. Otherwise it isn't worth the metal it's made out of....

well, i'd like to stick to bolt on parts
keep the car reliable for a daily driver
not spend too much on mod's

Tires, Drivetrain components....etc.

I will suggest a bigger final drive.

try advancing the timing. It's free. Use some 93 octone.

For faster pick up ..... go with a JRSC. I use to have one... it was pretty cool. Made the car alot quicker.

if you can't afford a crv swap then...fully gut your car. i mean the sound damping tar and carpet, take out everything under your dash, take out all your power steering and a/c components, have your crank pulley machined to only pull your alternator, use stock 13" wheels, take out all your seats and all the panels inside your car, take off your intake filter, put a turbo on that engine, match port the ports, put in a cam, get a carbon hood, get fiberglass rear door or carbon, get lighter fenders and doors, take out your door windows, get a dremel and start hacking your car to pieces. if you can't get a engine swap (the easiest way to get power and a good platform), then you have to get power by lightening the living **** out of the car. best thing...get traction, fully gut, get a crv or prelude block and turbo that and you will more than have what you want. oh yeah, and wheelie bars and nitrous!

hey ho focker, don't you read the title of the post? It says he wants to stay with bolt-ons on the SOHC. He DOES NOT want to swap to a DOHC. Damn read the title sometime.
