I belive a ticking noise is when you need a valve adjustment, have you checked oil lately?

Im not sure, when you change your oil use mobil 1 synthetic, that can give u a smoother idle sometimes. You may need a valve adj. if it ticks a lot.

This post sounds familar...
first of all does it sound like this: http://geijn.lagcity.com/gti/

no really.. there was just a thread about this.. and the same thing happended to my engine... it ended up being a rod bearing..
valves should be more of a tick.. not a loud deep noise..
drain your oil and look for flakes.. or take off your oil pan and look for flakes

the engine sounds like a low tone from an exhaust.
what is that?

at high rpms its not as loud...but at WOT its loud as heck
low and mid range it makes alot of noise...
