A little advide on removing surface rust please
Well looking under my car the other day i wanted to see just how much rust has accumulated. Basically, it appears to be all surface rust. Its on some parts of the subframe, tie rod, bolts, and other things.
Can i just use a wire brush or sander to pretty much scrape it down to metal again and then maybe spray an anti rust kinda thing on them, then maybe spray paint it with a semi or flat black?

Wirewheel / paint remover disc. Then you paint it with acid-etching primer, topcoat and if you want clear. then sand it with 400grit paper and spray it with stone-guard/undercoating.
Should last few years after that treatment.

where can i find all these products? I see you're from finland. Im sure you know we have paint places, but also autoparts stores and walmarts
automotive paint shops will sell you the paints, dont bother with wallmart on them.
Though the wirewheel and those can be found in wallmart etc.

I sent this via your PM, but I guess you have a pop-up blocker enabled and didn't get this message.
Anyhow, I think it might be beneficial to others to have you share your experience.
I discovered that after I had my cage welded in, there were certain areas where the heat from the penetration burned off the undercoating on my car.
I'm sure the rust developing is a result of the heat oxidizing the metal and perhaps moisture collecting in the now bubbling/flaking undercoating.
What procedures, chemicals, methods do you recommend here?

Hey all, I didn't want to make a new thread so I figured to just post here instead. After reading for a little, the best method seems to be a wire wheel with an angle grinder. I will probably get one soon but I would like to start now on small (1-2") spots on my car.
I guess the step are sand, bondo, sand, primer, sand, clear, and paint? What kind of grit sandpaper should I be using throughout this process? Thanks
