Default in line fuel pump question

alright, ive seen inline fuel pumps on NA cars. how does this thing work in conjunction with the existing fuel pump. does it just pull the fuel harder past the intank pump or what??? i would imagine it would just make the stock fuel pump seem almost "more efficient".

i would have thought the intank pump would become a restriction if you put a inline pump between it and the fuel rail.

i would remove the intank pump and add a inline pump.

but i have a surge tank setup with a low pressure feed pump and an insurgetank(sp?) high pressure pump...

help at all?

t..

i am going to be getting a msd inline pump.
i was wondering if i culd run it using a toggle switch...like for normal driving have it turned off and just flip the switch when i want to run the n2o..

if i do it like this will my stock pump have to push harder when the inline is turned off to be able to push it through the inline pump..or will it not be affected..?

also when i have my inline turned on will it be overdriving my stock pump causing it to eventually burn up or sumtin?

im a lil confused on the inline fuel pump thing..

Yes You could wire a switch between the power and the pump, I own one and it wouldn't be hard at all.... although if you have the pump off I believe your daily driving would be very restrictive since it might cause a blockage of fuel to an extent when its off.

Stock pump not sure if it pushes harder, the inline is only really for when you need higher fuel pressures it can stand to make them. TYpically used in a FMU or RRR fuel setup on a turbo car where 120+ psi of fuel pressure is commonly created, the stock pump or any intank even 255 walboro cannot handle making that kind of fuel pressure at all.

No it will not burn up your stock pump at all, don't worry about that.

im a lil confused on the inline fuel pump thing..

im just goin to wire it up to a switch and turn it on whenever i start it up...as long as it can keep up with the gas that i need to run n2o ill be fine..

MY inline is wired so it turns on as soon as the key is in the accessory position. No problems so far, and I kept in intank pump in place.
