light weight flywheel and idle problems?
Just had the motor out to do some headwork and when I put it back in I put on a new action clutch with a 7 lb fidanza flywheel, as well as a victor x manifold. Got the motor back in and it's having some major idle problems. Goes up and down between 1500-500 and sometimes can't catch itself and dies. I couldn't actually take it out and drive it (will do that tomorrow, still need to put hood and bumper back on) so I don't know how driveability is. Is there usually a problem ideling with a light flywheel? Or is it more likely the new manifold?
could be the new manifold and could be the head work....How is your IAC sounds like the engine is hunting for and idle. have you checked for any vacuum leaks. does your car run factroy ecu or standalone? what kind of head worll was performed? Maybe with the manifold bieng so large and making power from 7-10k rpm you are seeing stagnant airflow at idle and it is causing your idle to be crappy..sort of like havin too large of a cam at idle it runs like poo. just a few thoughts
Headwork was just a valve that needed regrinded, so that isn't the problem. Hondata right now - idle was perfect before taking the engine out. All the lines to the manifold look good. I didn't connect the lines going to and from the solenoid for the charcoal canister. I'll try hooking that up tomorrow to see if that is the problem. If anyone can explain exactly how that works I'd appreciate it. It's got the line going to the fuel tank, a normal sized vacuum line to the manifold (with the solenoid inline), and a larger red line going to the manifold (actually on the TB). I connected the red line to the TB, but left the smaller vacuum line disconnected.
One more thing. Looking at the helms manual there is a fast idle thermo valve on the side of the stock manifold that lets additional air through when the engine is cold. The victor x doesn't use that.
did you have to swap the TPS onto the Victor X?
or did you keep hte throttle body stock?
(sorry - never seen a victor x!)

aww man dont worrie i got my lil bro drivin a stick i got a DD now, yes but yea if you think this iz a leak in the can then use your finger to plug it up or wut not see if that works and but then aigain this happend with a skunk2 man with my boy
I found one leak and hooked the charcoal canister back up properly. Still doing the same thing. I I disconnect the 2P connector to the EVAC the engine dies. Should it do that?
I checked all hoses to the manifold and there are no leaks. Plus I think a leak would just cause it to idle high, I'm having the opposite problem. It is running very rich at idle, around 12:1 and sometimes even 11.5:1. While driving it leans out and stays around 14.5:1. I had everything tuned with hondata before this happened. Could running this rich be causing the problem? I've taked quite a bit of fuel out of the low load load rpm points with hondata and it didn't change much at all.

I'm having the same problem after an ACT 8.8lb flywheel install... and that is with a JRSC on the below car... I adjusted the idle up, but still stalls sometimes when the clutch is depressed at low coastdown speeds...
