The valve job has to match the porting,so whoever is porting it will know what to use.

It all depends on the port work,I prefer to use .5mm on int and 1mm over for exhaust on turbo apps.I've used that set-up on 8 sec Hot Rod class cars and 6 sec pro rwd cars.

so the amount of "angles" is determined by how much porting is done to the head?correct?

Each porter has a style of valve job and will vary from head to head.I personally like to do a 3 or 4 angle job for the intakes and a radius for the exhaust but some like to do radiused intakes as well.

How much of the seating surface does a radiused valve retain? Is it still a 45 degree seat angle?

I'm not saying what angle I'd use but the seat will be 1mm -1.5mm wide.
