Default kNOCK SENSOR PROBLEM

I have been trying all day but the search forum is down! So sorry im sure its been covered! I was timing my 96 gsr and i sorted the ecu just like the manual says to do and i timed it and then pulled the paper clip back out and now it wont stop reading code 23 the knock sensor code? I have tried resetting the ecu two times and it will stay off until I go to about 3k rpms? Does this mean i have a bad knock sensor or i just set my timing wrong? Thanks for your help!

It is under the third intake runner. Between the Intake Manifold and the "sucide hose" AKA..water pipe. I believe it is a 27mm and you should use a deep socket if you remove it.

I say retime it.
