just finished dropping in a obd 1 gsr motor into an eg and everything went fine until the car threw up a 23 engine code which i believe is knock senor. please let me know how and what i need to fix this problem. its the only code that its throwing up. im gonna be taking this to the ca. state ref to get the swap legalized.

 

Wire up the knock sensor ... D3 is the pin position ... or get a rechiped ecu that dosent look for a knock sensor

 

i was wondering if you have a pic of that d3? also where is the knock sensor located? please elaborate ive never done this or had trouble with this. thanks for your help

 

The knock sensor is on the back of the block, above and left of the oil filter. It has a one wire plug. Its above the water pipe, the one below it is oil pressure sensor.

 

where on the ecu or harness to i connect the wire? whats the color of the wire?

 

you need to pull out the wire (along with the metal clip) from A20 and put it in D3.

 

where do i go about finding out where this a20 and d3 slots are? thanks for everyones input

 

go to your ecu. unplug the 3 harnesses that plug into the ecu. the big one (26 pin) is A. the middle one is B (14 pin) and the last one is D (22 pin). so A20 is on the bottom row (looking at wire side of harness, not empty side). count even #'s on the bottom row (2, 4, 6, 8....) until you get to 20.

D3 would be the 2nd pin # on the top row of the 3rd connector (again looking at the wire side). that space should be empty.

 

actually that space is is not empty? so what do you think i should do?

 

also there are wires in the slots A20 and D3. so im confused now.

 

there should be a wire in A20, there shouldn't be in D3. what model civic do you have?

 

i have a 95 si hatch

 

oh that may be different than my CX because i believe those come with a knock sensor. my CX didn't. start a new thread or something and ask these bastards how to do this on an Si. sorry i couldn't help.
