kioll switch install
I should clarify that this kill switch is for racing and is needed not for security but rather to be able to turn off all power to the car for safety should I mess up and hit something.....
Thanks
Ron
I am installing a kill switch in a Civic. Figure I can break the main power feed at the line going into the fuse box under the hood. Am wondering which line to break to kill the engine? Breaking the main power did not do it on a Miata as the alternator still provides power.
I was thinking that breaking the main yellow/black wire in C313 (the big round connector on the drivers side) but would really like to find one that will kill the engine in C210 which is the round connector near the fuse box (easier to run the wires...).
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks
Ron

The ecu gets power from the Main relay, so does the fuel pump. You should look into interuppting those wires. The main power feed into the underhood fuse box is too big to use a switching device for security. Make sure you dont make it obvious. Most people put a relay on the ignition switch for their alarm and leave it in sight and easy to tamper with. I have 2 jumper wires I use if I need to start a car with an alarm.
The ground on the tranny, and the ground on the valve cover are the only ground sources for the engine. Interupt those and there's no spark. There are a few sensors that you could also cut. Try cylinder reference signal.
Its way easier to just leave the ecu loosely mounted and take it in the house with you.
