Killing the battery . . . maybe I'm missing something?
Alright awhile back came out to my car to find that the battery was dead, so I bought a new battery . . . it worked fine for a week or so . . . then died (battery). So I thought "no problem the alternators bad" so I bought a new alternator and had the battery replaced again. Car drove fine for a week or longer again and now I'm back to square one. I've checked the connections, grounds, and fuses most most of the starting/charging system and it seems to check out okay. If anyone knows of stuff in peticular for me to look for or stuff I might have overlooked please help. I'm running out of patience and $. Car is a 2000 Si CR/VTEC with Hondata. Thanks

Welcome to my ******* life man. I've been having the same damn problem as you are. Right now the car sorta drives (when gassing, the car charges... when I brake/idle it decharges) but not a week ago I had the same problem you have.
that sucks
I unfortunately am really lazy and havent even checked to make sure the alternator is charging the battery. Just hoping for a simple solution

Yea... I dunno what the hell. When I give the car gas, it charges. When I don't give it gas... it decharges pretty much. Pretty lame.
I'd start with the aftermarket electrical items. Anything at all: stereo, VAFC, Hondata, etc. Check where all these items are getting their power from...everything SHOULD be getting a (+) connection from a source that only closes the circuit with ignition switch turned to on...anything put directly to a full-time power source is going to drain the battery constantly.
good call. I thought this was only happening after the Hondata install, but then I didnt know if I was just trying to find something to blame it on. I've heard of starting/charging problems with Hondata when the ELD wasnt disabled . . . I also might try that as soon as I can get to a hondata tuner
Thanks
Thanks

If your alternator or something kills your battery, fix the problem, then charge the battery. Don't waste the ******* battery, especially two fairly new ones. Get a cheap $20 multimeter and find the problem. Damn, 3 batteries = $180.
i think you have a consumption of power around your car, so when you leave the car for a while this consumption takes all the power away, now, you need a voltimeter/multimeter to check the voltage of the car at idle with everything off to see if the alternator is working properly, also, like somebody mentioned before, check for the aftermarket stuff to see if they are getting their power from where they should...etc..
I have spent $0 on this project - all it is swapping from my parts car.
I found out that not only was the alternator plug corroded, but the alternator IS dead. A friend of mine is upgrading to a 90amp tomorrow.. so I get his old one and he gets my broken one for a core return.

I think he was referring to me, to really 3 batteries doesnt = $180 it equals about $50 with a lifetime warranty. I'm gonna replace it again and chase it from their. We'll do an alternator test probably tomarrow after work and maybe a draw test. I'm just a lazy guy hoping for an easy solution

Oh. Doh, your thread, not mine.
Anyways, fixed my problem - both the plug and the alternator **** out on me. Cleaned the plug, spread the contacts, and new alternator ==

well since not alot of people usually posts the fixes to there problems I thought I would.
I wound up doing an alternator test and the one I had was junk. We cleaned up the battery ground and found that the ground on the tranny wasnt making a great contact and was arching all around the 10mm bolt. So we cleaned it up and tightened it down . . . havent had any charging problems since . . .
