kill the cat?
my catalytic converter has been getting real hot when i drive. i know that means it is pluged and needs replaced. my question is this should i just cut the damn thing off and weld in a pipe??? i live i in rural PA and they don't have pollution tests here, and never will. but i am concerned about the ECU and spitting out a code? should i kill the cat and go with pipe or find another cat?
is the car obd1 or obdII? and when it throws a code it will be 65 (secondary o2 circuit failure) or atleast thats what mine did when dropped the cat and 2nd o2 sensor. btw mines a 97 prelude. they have o2 simulators that make the ecu think the cat and secondary o2 sensor is still there.
i had a hollow cat that worked well take your cat out and jam a broom handle or a breaker bar through. mine went the old fashion way cloged and blew everything out the back
http://www.diabloautosports.com has them i know there are a few more places that have them but i dont feel like searching. i think there was a post on here about them a while ago. thats where i found out about them. hope this helps
