Default Key broke in half stuck in ignition (help!)

Hey guys so first off I'm stupid.
My ONLY car key broke in half while trying to open a paint can. So i super glued it together and stuck it in the ignition to try and get home from work..

The other half of the key got stuck inside the ignition cylinder.

I have a 2002 Civic coupe Lx automatic.

Pretty sure it has the immobilizer.

Not knowing exactly how the immobilizer works, and not being able to afford a new ignition + key recoded by a Honda dealer. They wanted 1,000$ starting off!! :O
My question is, if I baught a kit off ebay that has new ignition cylinder + 2 keys + 2 door locks for $55 shipped;

Could i install the new parts BUT keep my original immobilizer and just take my old key chip and glue it right onto one of the new keys. That way i can drive my car again?

I think if the original key chip for the immobilizer works by being within the vasinity of the immobilizer, then shouldn't this work for me?

*Unless* the chip in the old key sends the signal to the immobilizer through the actual metal of the key from the ignition cylinder.

By the way I'm not even 100% sure if the car has a immobilizer to begin with. I just read horror stories online for the same gen civic when people are doing engine or transmission swaps. I'm pretty sure it has it. The original key does have black plastic covering the end you hold it at. And it does look like it has the actual immobolizer part attached to the ignition cylinder. I just never delt with any problems with it before. Never had the immobilizer LED come up on the dash or anything that I'm aware of. Thank goodness and I hope to never have to deal with it!!! Sounds like a nightmare

Thank you for your time! I appreciate it a lot

Yes, what you are proposing will work. Make sure the replacement keys are unchipped.

Also the programmed half of the key doesn't have to be taped to the key, Ive seen them tapped or zip tied to the steering column itself(some people put them inside the column cover.)
