Default Broken Ignition.. HELP

My car was broken into a month or two ago and they tried starting it so the ignition got a little messed up. The key still fit fine and turned fine. But now whatever was broken inside came loose and it's pretty much garbage.

I assume I can only get a new ignition from the dealer, or are there alternatives? I want to know how much trouble it'll be to install a new one myself? Does any one know if the ignition can be rekeyed to match the doors/trunk or vice versa? What's my best option?

Just look on eBay for a new one - they usually come with a new key; however, you will still have to use your original key for the doors....unless you have an aftermarket alarm system.

Does the key actually have trouble turning inside the cylinder or does it seem like it's only an electrical problem?? The ignition switch is only $40 from Honda and it unbolts from the key cylinder which is a lot more $$$$... Mine went out recently and it was an easy fix.

A local junkyard quoted me $40 for a key cylinder. It's $400 or so from Honda....

Well, just a thought here, but the ignition switch that bolts to the end of the key cylinder in the same for a LOT of Hondas...I used one from an old DA Integra on my Prelude for a while. You may want to look into finding an Accord cylinder from the same years as your lude...
