Default keeping cylinders rust free?

im in the process of building my first motor, and i leave to go back to college in 2 weeks, and wont be home till december. I have th ebottom end assembled, but im wondering how i can keep my cylinders from rusting. i just had a fresh hone done, since they were a little rusty from sitting at a friends house for about a year...so whats the best way to prevent this? i gave it a light coating of oil but im not sure how long that will last...

any input? thanks!

Oil it, put it on an engine stand, and cover it with a large trash bag.

That block in my avatar sat like that for about seven months before I built it. I took a big wad of paper towel, saturated it with fresh oil, and shoved it down each cylinder with a paint mixer. Make sure you wipe off all of the machined surfaces with oil, too. And the trash bag keeps the random dust and dew from settling on the top of the motor.
