Default just started up the rebuilt motor

ok so i got my motor in the car and i start it up, and it seems kinda ruff, im hoping that i aint detionating. what does it sound like? everyone says like pinging but is there a sound clip of it somewhere? is it like metal taping metal sounding? also when doing to ignition timming, if your standing infront of the drivers side fender and the timming mark is to the right of the mark on the timming belt cover, is that advanced or retarded? oh btw i rebuilt the b18b w/ B16a pistons, ls rods, arp rod bolts and head studs, b16 oil pump, new main and rod berings, all new gaskets and belts, im just wondering when assembling the motor, can you mess up when bolting the crank in and the rods/pistons in? i didnt check end play becuase i do not have a dial indicator, but teh clearance for the main and rod berings are ok, i also torqued the bolts to specs, but the rod bolts worries me, on the arp instructions it says to torque it to 40lbs and the helms says to torque them to something around 27ft-lbs. and i used the specs from arp, i tried to call them to ask but i never got threw the many times i called. so i guess im asking if the motor is supposted to be a little ruff since everything is all new and they need to seat a little? also my idle jumps from 5oo to 1200 rpms, i think its becuase i swaped my tps because it was broken, and i didnt check the voltage. so does anyone know what volts it supposed to be on a 95 b18b? thanks

um, i have only rebuilt one motor and it was a twin carbie ET 1.8 which wasnt rough when she was started for the first time.

BUT when i did my swap with a B16A the idle was rough - phasing between 750 to 1500rpm.

it smooths out slowly - over like 20 minutes if you jsut sit there,

i think it may be the computer "learning" its fuel map or something?

is this right guys?

t..

your tps should be around .5 volts at idle.
