Default torque specs

alright im installing my pistons in my block and i have arp rod bolts, now the instructions that came w. the rod bolt says to torque the rod bolts to 40lbs then losen them and repeat 2 more times, but in the helms it says to torque the bolts to 23lbs. so which do i torque them to? thanks alot oh since this is my first motor im building, any tips for assembly that would help me or things that i should watch out for? thanks

Go buy what ARP recommends..They do make the bolts

I would read the instructions more carefully. Example: Eagle rods come w/ ARP rod bolts...torque spec = 28 ft.-lbs. Also, remember that stock rods are not as strong as, say, Eagles, and may not require/be able to handle 40 ft.-lbs. Good Luck!!
