Default JDM Field VTEC Controller - Boxers Series

i was thinking about purchasing one and installing it in my 99 honda civic ex coupe. but i was told that it's not worth installing a vtec controller in a car that has like no mods. it might even damage the car? i basically have no mods, my car is just lowered.

has anyone has experiences with vtec controllers? particularly the Fields, boxers series.

any recommendations? thanks for the input.

I have the Field's in my 99 Si. Its primary use for me is fuel control. I have a rechipped Kenji ECU (Skunk prog.) which tends to be rich across the board. So, I use the Fields to + and - fuel at certain rpm points. I just match the VTEC x-over on the Field's to what the ECU is at; in my case 5300rpm.

I have it mounted on my column, it works fine for me. Have it for about a year now. Displays either RPM, Speed, or Fuel +/- level at rpm.

The Field unit is pretty good while it works, however, some become faulty over time. With few or no mods then there will be little or no gains from any VTEC controller.
