Default vtec controller

can any one briefly explain how a vtec controller works and is it true that with a vtec controller you alter when the vtec kicks in

A vtec controller changes the signal from the tps, map, and rpm depending on what unit you have. The altered signal tells the ecu a different engine load value so it will use a different spot on its fuel map, there by increasing or decreasing fuel. When these changes are made, timing is also affected. There is no way to compensate for it. Yes, it also lets you choose vtec activation rpm.
