hey everyone , jus picked up a eg wit a b16a in it , the head is stamped pr3 -3 , and the year is 91 , , its got the old style valve cover with the "dohc" word being bigger then "vtec" , and the "honda motor co" as apposed to just the word "honda" on the second gen valve cover , but it doesnt have the pgm-fi plate on the intake manifold , it jus has a couple of metal lines goin across it (excuse my terminology) similar to the second gen b16 intake manifold . It also has the p30 ecu , witch if im correct came with the second gen motor , and it has 2 o2 sensors ,the tranny has been changed to usdm gsr so tha won't help me id the motor either . The serial # starts with a 1 xxxxx , i know they started making the jdm eg in 91 , so im wondering if this is a early model second gen motor , if anyone can help me with this i would really appreciate it , thanks in advance .

if its a 1 million series motor its a first gen

i'm not sure cause i haven't had a chance to take off the valve cover , but what is the difference , first gen cast , second gen machined?

yah but dont all first gens come with a pgm -fi plate ? and the wire harness coming out of the motor has gray connectors as apposed to cream colour on the first gen , if im not mistaken.

tru , second gens start with a 5

 

the plate is with the intake manifold (same goes for the valve cover), a few bolts and that can be changed but like mentioned earlier the 1 series is the first gen and the 5 series are the 2nd gen motors

were would I see the # (5) on my B16a JDM. I too dont know if I have a second gen or first gen. looks like a second gen, but not sure which year it is...PICTURES WILL HELP ALOT PLEASE...
