Default ITR block vs LS/vtec

Im buying a obd1 b16 swap for my cx hatch in 2 months. Summer 2006 i plan on Getting an itr block or doing a basic LS/vtec setup. I'm leaning more towards getting the itr block and a itr or ctr intake cam. I'm keeping the b16 exhaust cam because i don't feel like changing the valve springs.

ITR block man....you will have higher compression than a stock LS bottom end will offer and its not as much of a frankenstien motor. Ethier way is a good setup with good potential.

Its all about how you build it (parts you use, installation). and maitance (tuning and such)

If youre just gonna build a really mild ls/vtec without cams, just go type r.

i have been wondering whether i want an ls/vtec or just a striaght b16b or b18c5 swap. this summer i will probably do the swap, i have plenty of time to start building an engine, but i think my final decisions are to just go with the Type R motor. I like it becuase it was a hand built motor with titanium springs and such, pretty much built for what i want, a motor that i can bounce off the limiter everyday and not worry about it. plus i want to get the whole swap with the tranny, i am building my car for track and want the LSD tranny. this way will be the easiest becuase i can drop the motor in and go, not have to worry about if i messed somethign up when i built the Ls/vtec or anything. i dont have a lot of money so i was leaning towards the ls.vtec but for what i want, track engine that can rev high and i can beat the **** out of, i am goign to go with the type R swap.

if i was building a drag car to win races, i would probably go with ls/vtec so i could build the motor up from bottom to top and get as much power as possible. but i need a daily driven track car.

good luck with your decission!

what is wrong? not the beating part, thats what it was made for. i beat the living hell out of my b16a and it loved it in the butt everyday.

eh, maybe wrong about the titanium part but definatly hand built with mild port and polish and other race inspired tlc.

gsr block, b16 head, itr cams, itr trans (gsr if boosting)

from the selections listed, go with the one that had itr cams.

my current setups is

ls block(forged pistons/rods) b16 head, gsr cams, gsr tranny, 57 trim t3/t4
