ITR cams ?
nah, you dont' really need the valves springs & retainers. they're only used so you can take it up to 10,000rpm safely. if you're not going to upgrade your rev-limit, then stock springs & retainers will do you fine.
Good advice if you want your friend here to save a few bucks, but take
it from someone who tried something better...
and failed!
mishifted and floated my stock GSR valvetrain...
Poor man ITR setup:
Moved my Intake GSR springs down to Exhaust (ITR Blues)
Installed CTR intake cam with ITR Intake Valves, and Yellow
inner and outer spring on stock retainers, stock gears.
Accidently misshifted again on the highway after a 3rd gear
pull and went to second... this mildly bent 5 exhaust
valves but it was enough to lose compression.
Get this: I have
CTR Intake cam 350
00-01 ITR exhaust cam 200
Skunk2 Gears 200
16 x ITR yellow outer 120
8 x ITR intake valves 150
16 x Portflow Stiffened Inner Springs 80
16 x Skunk2 Ti Retainers 160
Endyn .5mm over eflat SS xhaust valves 150
still need ITR lost motion assemblies and VTEC solenoid
you can only raise your rev limit with ECU tuning.

$1410 invested, I can shift to second from 8K in third and
chirp my tires and have no problems now. I have
accidentally done it twice since on my new setup. After
that I reset the lashes to be sure there were no problems,
and it was all good. That was a month ago and no probs
to date.
also, be sure and TQ your cam bearing caps to 20lb-ft on
the 12mms and 8lb-ft on the 10s. anything else can
freeze a cam, I did it I was lucky this happened at idle and
the engine stopped at BDC where there is no Valve interference!!
I GOT DAMN LUCKY. Dont hand tighten bearing caps.
Make a right choice for your horsepower. If you only do the intake cam,
you can ride on the Stock B-Series Double Spring Set. The Stock Non-
ITR Vtec ex. spring is a single that likes to bind. The Intake springs
are ok, but for anything higher than 11.5... you better build that thing
up and be sure to never EVER surpass 8250RPM!!! Mis Shifting to a lower
gear at a high rpm will claim your valves, usually NO MATTER WHAT.
Be smart, mod smart.
< me 99GSR 163/125 on dyno on all stock I,H,E, intake manifold, injectors, fuel pressure, stock cat, ECU, cat back, power steering, AC, 20BTDC ig timing, +1 intake cam, +2 exhaust cam
I can launch, pull and hold on a stock S2000 with my rubber, clutch/flywheel and
suspension mods. They get PISSED!!! I love it. I am in thr process of buying my car from the lease (doh!!) after that I will get on my ECU work and mybolt ons...
I can do this because my engine is making more power with everything in place!
I hope to hit high 190s and mid 140s tq. someday soon with a 8500 redline.
Happy Tuning!
