Default Interesting Problem (Code 4, 9, and 15 involved)

I'll be really brief .. I'll go from starting my car, to driving, to stopping.

I start my car and it idles really weirdly, almost to the point of stalling.
-Then check engine light comes on, and the idle smoothes out to a normal idle.

I drive along in my 1992 honda civic CX hatchback... but I'm rev limited now...
-I can go to ~20mph in 1st gear, ~40mph in 2nd, etc. It's not the normal rev limit (and the car shakes a lot if I attempt to get past 20 or 40 in 1st or 2nd respectively).

While driving ... sometimes at stop lights (1/15 stops) .. the car will stall out.
-happens somewhat infrequently, but only started after these problems began (so it's likely related).

That's my problem... and I have a code 4, 9, and 15 error ..

Do any of you have an idea of what the problem could be?

Put a distributor on it.

lol, i knew I was gonna get that suggestion .. so let me elaborate a bit more

I've checked the distributor .. includiong the coils and sensors .. and all of them check out to be working perfectly.

(all the resistances are within guidlines)...

are u sure it's just the distributor?

Is the inside of the distributor covered with a brown powder? Is it makeing any noise? Is the shaft hard to turn?

Yeah, all three codes are related to the distributor. Even if the coil resistances check out fine, that doesn't mean that they are working correctly. If you've got enough bushing wear to let the shaft vibrate around, it shows up as such on the signals sent to the ECU. Try and find another dizzy...it sounds like it'll solve the problem.

Well .. i've done a couple things now.

I replaced the PCV hose that had a ahole in it. Then I looked at the PCV valve and shook it .. and didn't hear any sound .. so the PCV valve was bad .. and I've placed an order for a new PCV valve... it'll be arriving on 4/8/03

I'm hoping that mebbe the PCV valve will fix the problem .. and the PCV hose has fixed vacuum problems.

Still .. when I start my car (reset ecu before starting of course), even with the new hose .. it starts and barely idles without stalling.

Then the check engine light comes on .. and the car idles normally, and then I'm rev limited again.

I'm SOOO lost. Damnit. How much will a dizzy cost btw?
