Default installing rods and pistons question

is there any good diy links around here. i tried looking but came up with nothing as usual. if not can someone tell me how? how hard is it on a scale of 1-10? tips? etc etc

its nott that hard to be honest with you. im pretty sure jeff evans has a good write up and maybe even a video of it on his website. www.evans-tuning.com. check for it

just be careful when sliding the compressed rings into the cylinders. Done correctly, they will slide into the bore very easily without much pressure. Do not force them in as you run the risk of damaging the rings. The autozone ring compressors are horrible. I would advise purchasing something like the ARP tapered ring compressors. Also be careful with the rod ends and dont let them hit the bore on the way down, they can gouge the bore and thats not good.

honestly I find this cheap lisle brand compressor to be pretty damn good
....make sure you give the compressor a little tappy tap-tap against the block to make sure it is square before you drive the piston in.....something else that might help a first timer is to put a couple of pieces of rubber hose over the rod bolts to keep them from hitting the crank....its real easy to nick the crank, trust me......I would say the most difficult/time consuming part is plastigauging the motor and filing the rings.....I hate doing that ****, takes forever and you cant really rush it or take any shortcuts
