install a test pipe ?
i went to a few shops and asked a test pipe...they all said we wont do it b/c its a 10 grand fine if they do.. a test pipe should a str 8 bolt up only nuts and screws. i should be able to do it inmy drive way.i know i will need to have the muffler welded at a shop

Sometimes when you take out the stock cat and put in a testpipe you actually lose power. The dyno is on the honda-perf.com board when they dyno tested the B20 it lost a few hp and ft. lbs. of trq.

You might want to check if you are referring to a gutted cat or a test pipe, because a there is no reason an actual test pipe that is that same diameter all the way through would lower horsepower. A gutted cat with larger chamber on the other hand can obviously cause the exhaust gasses to circulate and possibly back up.

if you don't realize that exhaust gases backing up into your motor is a bad thing then you have alot of research to do. free flow OUT of the motor is the objective of the exhaust.

Exactly, thank you Ryan. Same idea as if you were to have a header that the ports were not matched to your head and the exhaust gases circulated and re-entered the combustion chamber. Your air to fuel ratio would suck, it would run like crap.
