Re: Indexing spark plugs (lsvtecvx)
has anybody done this and also how do you keep the plug it the exact spot,do you leave it loose?
back in the day i did that with my zcars. you use various thinkness washers to level the plug in the chamber. use high quality washers and i *think* lock washers. it was a while ago.
good thing you reminded me, i'll make to sure to do that in my new A6

Re: Indexing spark plugs (RyanR)
Indexing plugs is best for v engines. In any 4 cyl. it will not help. plus combustion design of hondas support good flame travel already.

The number of cylinders has nothing to do with it. Its all about combustion chamber desing. On 4 valve heads with a pentroof chamber there is less need for it.

you know why? Larry/TOO stated the facts.......
Basically, Alum rods in a high winding Pro Stock motor would "touch" the electrodes and close the spark gap, killing that cylinder.

There is one model Honda manufactures that have the spark plugs indexed from the factory. Can anyone guess which model it is?

Re: Indexing spark plugs (Mover)
since posting about this the general concensus is...it's not needed.
the mix should "mix" quite well in the combustion chamber and evenly ignite regardless of the plug's location.

Makes sense... I was wondering whether anyone messed around with it while on a dyno anyway.

Re: Indexing spark plugs (Mover)
although, and this is just something i always heard from the Zcar crowd, indexing plugs effectively moves the plug out of the chamber, removing any potential sharp edges and protruding metal, that can cause detonation.
My Zcar was boosted and i did that when we built the engine.
