impossible no-spark situation
alright heres the deal.
my car was running fine and beautiful. i took the motor out to redo the engine bay, i did a minor wire tuck and pulled out a bunch of unnecessary items. (evap system, egr, ABS sensors and lines, power steering, etc)
now my car is not getting spark. theres power at the coil, but its not putting out a spark. so the cap/rotor/wires/plugs arent the problem. it would lead you to believe its the ignitor, so on and so forth. it gets fuel, the injectors are working perfectly, its a fresh battery with solid connections, timing components are all straight, starter turns over fine.
ive tried replacing all of the following each a couple of times:
- coil
- ignitor
- distributor (TDC, CKP, CYP sensors)
- ecu
- main relay
- redid every single ground wire and made a few more
- tested for +12v at every pin that is supposed to be on with ignition
- an entire new engine wiring harness pulled from a working, running car.
ive checked every fuse, ive tested most of the wires between the components.
here is my thread about this same topic on cb7tuner: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=57421
and here is my members ride thread for pictures and information about my engine bay: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=46612
my wire tuck did not involve modifying any of the important wiring, i just tucked the wiring for the stuff at the nose of the car into the fenders. all of the main connectors and wiring were not cut or modified.
i know what im doing and im not retarded, but theres really nothing else thats related to the ignition system that i can fathom being the culprit. ive been through the helms manual again and again and again, ive went through just about all of the electrical and troubleshooting procedures/tests. i am 100% out of ideas.
while i was working on it, right after i put a new distributor on, i was getting spark for a grand total of 5 minutes, and then it was gone. out of nowhere. now im back to exactly where i started. i am getting no CELs or any indication of what the problem could be.
what else is related that i can check / test / replace ? read my post clearly before making stupid suggestions, as most things that every friend and tech at the dealership suggested i have already tried. but besides that, every and any suggestion would be appreciated.

Do you have a Tach wired in? If I remeber right I think the tach signal wire is blue. If that wire gets shorted to ground you will not get spark. Also verify that the ignitor is wired correctly.
good luck
good luck
sounds like im having the same problem just did a b16 swap into 95 civic. the first time i tried starting it i had to fuel found out i had a loose ground on the thermostat. did that. then no spark. took apart the distributor from the d15 and took out the ignitor and swapped them. that worked for about a day. i have tried three other ignitors and nothing. i have a tach wired into the blue wire. but every thing was crimped and heat shrinked. i cant figure it out the fuel pump turns on and everything the only code i was throwing was code 15 and that was some ignition one or something from unplugging the two wired distributor wire and cranking it over till the oil pressure light turned off to get oil circulating. reset the ecu and didnt throw a code. Im about to brake down and buy a new distributor. i dont know if that will fix the problem
