Import engine!?
Just curious, my bud just bought a motor for his mazda and it was shipped from Japan. Well turns out that the company doing the shipping told him that Japan has a law that a car can only have 50,000 miles on it then the motor has to be replaced, this is suppose to keep pollution down. This is suppose to be how he got a deal on his motor.
If this is so true, then how come honda motors like H22 and such are so damn expensive!? Is this something people don't know about and the market takes advantage of it! Well, if anyone knows if this is true fill me in!

in japan, cars are usually not driven beyond 45k. they just get new cars. why do you think when you buy a motor swap, the supplier claims "motor has 45k miles or less"....

It's because it costs a lot to ship it over from JDM land. Plus you have to go through customs first and they hold it for a little bit. My friend is getting his JDM R Recaros and they have been sitting in customs for a couple weeks waiting for clearance.
3 Grand for a motor isn't all that bad. If you price the motor OEM from honda Japan I'm sure that you will find the price to be much much more. Try pricing a chevy 350 to be imported to the UK or Japan, then you are talking bucks!
