igntion timing settings?
hello! i am a noob with desperately in need of help.i have a 95 civic ex with jdm b18c swap. i had a reputable shop installed my crane hi-6 ignition with an external coil. once installed i noticed my timing went advanced. i tried to set it to factory specs (with timing lights) of course and the closest i got to set to specs is 10 degree at idle.by the way the car only has i/e. Yes i understand with my set up its not needed. but since its just sitting in the closet for 3 years now i figured just put it on..
pls help a noob.thx

What I don't get is how can you say it's too far advanced when it is at 10 degree at idle. If it is too far advanced it should be in the beyond the 18 degree BTDC range, not at 10 degrees. at 10 degrees you are too far RETARDED and you need to advance it up 6 more degree to make it you 16 +/-2 degree BTDC.
I'm not here to flame but do you even know how to properly adjust your cam & ignition timing?
Now if you actually do know what you're talking about, assuming that you're refering to 10 degree TDC. there's a possibility that the engine timing is off and you need to remove the timing belt and readjust the camshaft pulley & crankshaft pulley to the recommended factory marks according to the Helms manual: http://www.helminc.com
