ignition timing woes. please help.
the timing on my b18c reads 10 degrees advance when the distributor is at full advance. it has been my experience that on a gsr engine with the distributor approaching full advance that the timing reads somewhere past 22 degrees advanced. what could be the possible causes for this?
with the distributor fully advanced, there is no audible knocking. this engine also has an aftermarket crank pulley, which is the only reason i can think of that the reading would be so far off. i am not the first owner of this engine; i thought that somebody could have resplined the distributor. when i took it off i realized that it was either on or 180 degrees off, so this is not the case.
is there any way to adjust the alignment of the crank angle sensor? could a bad crank angle sensor be the cause of this?
any help is appreciated.

correction: timing reads 4 degrees advance with distributor turned to full advance.
the car is a 96 hatch weighing approx. 2250-2350 with a filter on a stick and a 2.25" exhaust from the cat back, with a performance cat. it ran the following:
r/t .507
60' 2.368
330 6.482
1/8 9.771
mph 74.75
1000 12.604
1/4 15.012
mph 94.51
this results are disappointing. they are the best out of 6 runs. the tires were 205/50/15 ecsta supras. this is my first drag race, but shouldnt the car run at least something under a 15??

my timing gun doesn't read retard, so i dont know.
i can tell it's four degrees because i have an adjustable timing light. i set at four degrees and that's where the mark lines up at 0.

Did you shunt the plug under the dash to "dumb" the ECU. It could be fightingyou. Timing belt off a tooth??
