Default ignition timing

my ingnition timing was retarded 5 degrees could i have damaged my engine in any way or should there be somthing i should look for that i might have f-ed up?
BTW its a b18c1 it was at 11 degrees now back to 16 degrees

Shouldn't have done anything, except make it have less power. Its having too much advance that will hurt you..

thats good! how much of a loss of hp are we talking here if i was 5 degrees retarded?

Uh... your ignition was too far ADVANCED not retarded... 11degrees btdc is further forward in the stroke then 16degrees btdc.

Not much if any... but like I said above your's was advanced not retarded so you probobly lost a little up top...

My car was soo advanced it was pinging like a beotch... I retarded it and you can't tell any difference at all... other than the lack of pinging.
