ignition coil????
Hello
I was driving yesterday and my car stalled while i was rolling up to a red light. I tried to restart it and it wouldn't turn over. I towed it home and replaced the ignition coil and then it started right up! Today I drive around for a little bit and then go home it sat for about an hour then i tried to start it up again and it wouldn't turn over. WTF? Can anyone help me on this? can it be the ignitor?
thanks
Phil

do you have spark? What brand of coil did you use? Coils burn out for a reason- did you replace your cap rotor and plugs to prevent the new coil from burning out?
No i didn't i just took a coil from an extra distributor i had laying around. I did change the spark plugs tho.
Before i towed the car i pulled the spark plug out and connected it to the wire and tried to start, but i didn't see any spark.
I had a Jacobs ice pak in the car a week before. then this happened.
the car is turboed.
How much is the cap and rotor? and why would the coil burn out?
sorry i don't know much about this ignition stuff...i should...thanks

so you have no spark? Check for pulsing ground on the coil negative terminal while cranking. If you have no pulse- it is most likely your igniter. (Especially if it is an OKI igniter- brown or black- OKI igniters are trash).
cool, ill check that... so i should replace the cap, rotor and igniter...right??
I'll do that and keep you updated. thanks for the help man. that was fast.

A new cap and rotor is a good idea if your coil burns out- however- you can check the igniter instead of simply replacing it- if you replace it- be sure to squeeze the terminals with pliers before pushing them on or they won't be tight
I had my mechanic replace the igniter and coil. but i haven't put the distributor back in yet. im at work
after the car didn't start yesterday i came home about 5 hours later and tried to start it again and it started right up! do you guys think that is the igniter?
