I have 3 Honda civic hatchbacks between the years of 1996-2000. All have over 300,000 kms. I recommend removing and cleaning the throttle body at the first sign of idle problems. I spent $20 on Honda gaskets and can of carb cleaner. Well worth it, better idling and better fuel mileage. I also replaced the water-thin Honda transmission oil with synthetic 50w trans oil and it is now quiet and shifts smoother (5spd manual transmission).
