Honda Civic Idle problems
Ok, get ready for a story… I drive a 2000 Honda Civic EX 5 speed manual. Well, its a manual now. And the only reason I say this is because I just recently found out that my car was originally a automatic, and has been converted into a manual…
I typed the VIN in and gave it to a tech over the phone and he had also verified it is supposed to be a automatic.
So lets get down to business. I bought the car used about 7 months ago. Ever since, I've been having idle problems. First it would always be a hunting idle when I would throw it into neutral. It would also go really low at time when I was at a stop light. I replaced the throttle body and IACV, (both manual parts), from honda hoping it would fix the problem. Turns out it didn't, I have very low idle when the car is warmed up and I'm at a stop light. When I'm driving down the road and I throw it into neutral, the idle will constantly go up and down over and over again until I stop the car, then it stabilizes itself. At that point it would settle, but be very low. Id say around 300rpm's.
So my question for all of you is, since my car was originally a automatic, should i have bought an automatic throttle body instead of the manual one? Could it have messed up all my components and be causing my erratic and low idle problems? Even the engine block is set up for manual parts. So who ever changed the transmission in my vehicle, must have changed the engine as well because no automatic parts will fit onto it, i.e. the IACV. Do you think the ECU is bad? Or is a automatic ECU and i need to get a manual one to fix my idle problems? How can I get my idle back to the way it is supposed to be?
I have no air in my cooling system. No vacuum leak either. The PCV valve is also new. I have no idea what is going on

Yea. I'm having idling issues as well but mine idle high at a stop light and then I take off and barley press the gas pedal it bucks as if I hit the gas hard then if I let go of the gas it drops on its face. Weird? Right :/
Well I fixed my problem. You can any parts you want on your car as long as consides with the ecu check and make sure you got power to you bulk/yellow wire on the iacv. Take a wire and hook up to the wire and touch it to battery. You'll hear it turn on or not.your plug has to be plunged in tho for it to work
