Default Idle Problem. Please help!

You can see what kind of car and mods I have in my sig.

My idle is kind've ruff. Sometimes, the motor even dies at a stop sign or a stop light. The car shakes when its in idle also. Can someone help?

The cam gears are set at Intake +2 (Skunk2 +4), and Exhaust -1.

Fuel Pressure is at 50psi.

What can be the problem and how can I fix it? Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are suppose to have a smooth idle right? Please help out... Thanks.

did you reset your timing after changing the cam gears? if so, then just set your base idle up, i'm sure your air intake patterns and volume changed when you dialed out the cams.

Default Setting your Timing.

You know how to check codes? Good, you need to short that same service clip to put the ECU back into base mode so that the ECU does not try to advance/retard the timing while your trying to set it.

*Car should be fully warmed up at this point*

Grab your timing light and connect the inductive pickup to Cyl 1.

Look down at your crank pulley....see some markings? There are 4, with 3 of them being groupped together and a lone white one [I believe]. The white is TDC, for your reference.

Now, you should also notice a fixed pointer, that as the timing light is strobing, this pointer and one of the lines on the crank pulley seem to be 'in time'. The middle mark is factory, the outter 2 are +/- 2dgr.

Loosen your distributor a little, enough to turn it at least. Rotate towards firewall to advance the igntion...the converse for retarding.

After adjusting, bolt back down the dizzy, shut the car off, remove service clip, and start'er back and see how she feels.

*Note: This is for my 99 D16Y7...the finding/looking of the pointers maybe different, but the procedure is the same.*
