Idle problem. Please help!
You can see what kind of car and mods I have in my sig.
My idle is kind've ruff. Sometimes, the motor even dies at a stop sign or a stop light. The car shakes when its in idle also. Can someone help?
The cam gears are set at Intake +2 (Skunk2 +4), and Exhaust -1.
Fuel Pressure is at 50psi.
What can be the problem and how can I fix it? Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are suppose to have a smooth idle right? Please help out... Thanks.

yeah it should have a smooth idle, what rpm is it idling around? sometimes you have to raise the stock idle a bit with more aggressive cams becuase they require a little more air to run smooth, not much around 100-200 rpms
most of the time, it idles at 700rpm? around there. But sometimes it just drops or shoots up.
Oh yea. And when I start my car, there's like this ticking noise? It sounds like its comming from the cam gear section or the pulley part. Somewhere around there...

700 is pretty low, sometime my idle will drop that low and my car is also rough with my ITR cams, give it some gas and hold it around 900 and see if it's smooth, or just adjust the TB a bit to raise the idle to around 800, as far as the ticking, have you gotten a valve adjustment recently?
here's what some people said...
1. Well one thing it could be is your ECU is 00 MY I had the same problem with mine and that was with no cams at all. It never died but it did idle bad. It's apparently due to the ECU if you have old ECU like from the 97 ITR folks didn't have this idle issue. Apparently all new ECU's are like this. You either need older ECU or get something like a PowerFC which gives you better program to work with. The idle issue in the ECU has to do with all those new EPA laws that 00 models had to make. Have you ever tried the car without the vafc installed? I known of alot folks having problems with them if you can't correctly get them setup right.
2. I am thinking it has to do with the timing adjustment
3. did you reset your timing after changing the cam gears? if so, then just set your base idle up, i'm sure your air intake patterns and volume changed when you dialed out the cams.
