Default Identifying year of B18c

I will be getting my B18C (JDM ITR - Motor/Trans/ECU) tomorrow morning from HMO and I was just wondering if there was an easy way to tell what year it came out of. I have the understanding that it will be a '97, but just want to confirm this

Look on the head, right above the very left exhaust port above teh header, the is a little cirle with a line through it and a number on one side and a number on the other, like (9/7) kinda but its a whoel circle, thats hwta year the ehad was made so if it says 95 is was probably made in 94 or maybe 95... my 95 motor says 95

Someone said that the first digit of the serial# is the model year for the engine series. For example my '95 GS-R is B18C1-2nnnnnn meaning '95 is the 2nd year that B18C1 was available. My '98 Accord says F23A1-1nnnnnnn because '98 was the first year for that engine.

Was '94 the first year for JDM B18C engines? If so, then a '97 should be B18C-4nnnnnnn. Or maybe that system only works for USDM??
