Default iab?

i just recently purchased a gsr b18c1 motor. and i noticed it didn't come wit that iab black box like this:
do i need this box to run the motor or not? (actual pic is not mine)

Without the IAB connected, the intake will use the short runners, resulting in lost low and mid RPM torque. You can either install the IAB or install an aftermarket IM.

right on 4 the reply but the thing is the black box is not there but the solenoid is still there n vacuum lines is still conected to the solenoid???

You could make a vacuum canister for the IAB. It looks like you need a check valve (part #4).

oh ok. the way mine is set up hose #15 runs from the #3 t-fitting where #14 and #4 used to be to the #6 solenoid where #9 hose is supposed to be. #17 hose is still in the same place. i just wanna know if i could run it like this or just buy the iab black box???

oh yea the motor is a '95

You need a check valve and a vacuum storage canister as shown in the diagram. Vacuum is accumulated in the canister at closed throttle. The IAB operates at WOT, where little intake manifold vacuum is available.
