Ivtec is the new vtec system which utlizes varibable valve lift and variable timing

it is really good for a usable powerband, it'll change timing soo u get the most power everywhere...

vtec is different which only uses variable valve timing...
im not to fond of the ivtec yet...not too impressed til i see numbers

WRONG! god, if there is one more thread about what VTEC is I will puke.

VTEC has variable LIFT, DURATION, AND TIMING.

I-VTEC has THE SAME THING...except timing is constantly adjusting. lift and duration still are changed via a normal VTEC changeover.

Um, dude, VTEC cant change cam timing. Thats why people buy adjustable cal gears, so thay can ADJUST the cam timing. Something that VTEC can't do.

Well, technically, VTEC does change timing because the 2nd cam lobes are phased different than the first...its just not continuous like i-VTEC.

VTEC has 2 cam settings, both with different cam lift and timing characteristics...i-VTEC has 2 cam settings, but with 2 lift settings but infinite timing settings.
