I have a 98 type-r and the check engine light is on #9 (cylinder position sensor). The light only comes on when my car is warm. My car runs like crap and backfires too. I have just recently changed my cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires and it still runs bad. Could it be my msd? I think the timming is off but i dont know. Does this mean i need a new distributor and if I do what can i use? 0bd2 gsr?, 98 type-r only?, 2000 type-r?, can you please help me because i really need to fix this problem.....thanks!

 

if your cyp sensor is in the distributor then you'll need a new one. don't buy a remanufactured one.

 

then can i use any obd2 distributor?

 

you'll probably have to change the distributor housing. I'm having the same problem with my gsr motor.

I have a complete distributor if you nedd one. I'm just cleaning out my garage and things are tight right now so I could use the cash. Sorry about your problem!
