hydrolocked D16Y7 turbo
well the turbo had nothing to do with it, so that's why the post is here. and searches revealed stuff not really relevant to me...
the engine ran for 2 sec's then stalled. I tried to start it again and heard something that didn't sound good at all, then I saw water dump out of the downpipe and lotsa smoke. I did a quick comp test on the #1 cyl and got 60 psi. I'm not sure if that is an accurante #, I wanna go back tomorrow and dry up the cyl's and check again. #2 cyl I couldn't do cuz it had too much water in it so I couldn't turn the engine over (I was turning it over by hand). the engine was/is stock internally, but it's never run with the turbo on. in fact, it was absolutely stock right down to the air box and oil filter (always all dealer parts, owned it since brand new).
question now is what was the most likely thing that broke? headgasket, rings, or what??
that should give you guys enough info to answer intelligently. now for the more detailed story (for those who don't mind reading a lil extra). I bought a Y8 intake mani and swapped it in. then I put the turbo on. I was ready to start the engine. fluids topped up, everything checked and double checked. started up 1st crank, ran for 1-2 seconds and stalled. now what happened, the Y8 mani I bought looked perfect. nothing wrong, I had no reason to suspect anything. upon closer inspection after it hydrolocked my motor, some idiot fuct with the throttle body and failed to return the FITV to t-body gasket, causing the throttle body to be basically connected to the coolant passages, so as the engine ran it sucked up coolant and stalled. since it sounded fine when it ran, again I had no reason to think anything was wrong, I just figured the fuel was stale or maybe the Hondata program was a lil iffy with the idle. that's why I tried to start it again, then disaster struck. the noise it made was NOT good. sounded like one solid pop. The engine felt normal when I pulled the plugs and turned it over by hand (using the crank pulley 17 mm bolt). I didn't do anything else after that (other than immediately pulling the throttle body and checking WTF happened) since I didn't wanna damage it any further.
So what's the verdict, what is the most likely situation. What gave way, rings or head gasket or something else?? block seems intact I think, and I see no evidence of water and oil mixing, but who knows?? the engine didn't run after that so even if there was coolant in the oil I might not have been able to see it.
Sorry if this seems like a silly question, since the answer is surely "pull the head and take a look" but I just got laid off from my job last week so I wanna know what I'm most likely to experience at this point. pulling the head doesn't scare me in terms of labour (I can do that no problem) but $ parts are the big $concern$. And saying 'just get another Y7 for cheap" is also not a desirable answer since in Canada engines are not quite as easy to come by. Thanks all for your responses.

ok I cleaned it, started it, checked comp again - it got 185 on 1-3-4 and 180 on 2. looks good. water is in oil, so I gotta do that tomorrow or whatever.... also now it makes a screetching noise after about 10 secs of running, so I hope fresh oil cures that.... will keep you guys updated.
