Default Worth the hassle?

A kid came into the shop I work at today, and asked if I knew anywhere I could get him a complete obd2 b16 swap, for $3500. I told him hell, he could get a GSR for that price. He said no, it has to be a b16. Whatever. I guess he is gtting a low interest loan through the military, to fix his 99 EX, as it has a blown motor.

So I got to thinking, I could sell him my swap from my Si for $3500, and pick up a GSR, with LSD trans, for about $3500 shipped, if not a little cheaper. But then I got to thinking. Is it really worth the hassle of going through all that, just to change from my motor, to a GSR motor? If it were a ITR setup, then I would, but I dont want to have to pay much of anything out of my pocket, as it was something I was not looking into doing.

So, like I said, is the GSR swap all that much better, to warrant going through all of that?

There is no direct answer to this question. You have to consider several factors including: available time, your mechanical skill, future potential upgrades, and many more. If in the end you decide it's worth it, then by all means go for it.

True, never looked at it that way.

Swaps are nothing new. I have done plenty, and could have it all done in a weekend.

My plan with the Si, was to not throw upgrades on it. I have a intake, springs, and shocks. Thats it. Nothing else is in the works...

I dont think it's worth the hassle after thinking about more variables. If it were a rarer swap, like a itr, or ctr swap. I might do it, just for the novelty of it. But not for a GSR.

Thanks for throwing out a quick, yet different perspective.
