Default hydrolock scare. weird noises...help

So i'm driving home last night, its lightly raining and I'm going about 40 when i go through this huge puddle that just jumped up on me. Water went everywhere, my car died, but i could start it back up after a couple cranks. It is ticking like crazy however, and now this morning it won't barely even move forward without dying. I pulled the plugs and cranked it, and no signs of water. Could this just be water in my distributor? Anyone else experienced this? I'm about to go check some more things out, just wanted some opinions.

update...started it up and drove it around my apartment complex a couple times. Seems to be running ok (low rpms), but I think the noise its making is a loud valve tick. Its been making ticking noises for a while but never this bad. Im thinking it may be that the timing belt is loose, the valves need adjusting, or i have a bent valve? Wish i had my compression tester with me up at school, guess Im going to have to have it shipped to me. anyone have any opinions.

sorry to burst your bubble but your motor sounds like its about to blow. time to tear it open and see what the problem is. my first hydrolocked motor did that after i took all the water out and changed the oil twice. started ticking really loud, then started acting sluggish until it went BAMMM.

What kind of intake does the unfortunate hydrolock victim have on the car?

yeah i was just coming to grips with that after i had a scare a couple weeks ago. I was planning on just buying a short ram or getting my stock intake shipped to me. i will never buy a cai again.

I read somewhere that there's no significant performance gain difference between a CAI and SRI. Doesn't the stock intake go lower than a SRI? In my 91 Civic DX Hatch, the stock gets kinda low down there.

i saw a dyno modification readup in import tuner and usually cold air intakes only gain about 3-4 peak horsepower. i then saw a SRI on an rsx-s as a first mod and it added 10! peak horses. maybe that shows something
