HUGE CLUTCH TRANNY PROBLEM!! What Could It Be??
I think I just found a huge problem in my build and I wanna cry
I pretty much built a motor from scratch, my first ever top to bottom. Its a D16A6 in an 88 Crx Si
Ive got pretty much everything buttoned up and installe din the car, today I was finishing up and I connected the clutch cable to the tranny and tightenned down the plastic nut.
I pulled up on the lever that it attaches to and it goes up without anyforce being needed, just barely have to touch it and the lever raises. I pushed it up hard a few times continuously and you can hear it ting off of something, sounds like the little clutch fingers...............
I jumped in the car and sure enough there was ZERO pedal pressure.
Im actually really sad now cause i thought everything was going great and I find this at the worst possible time.
The clutch is a clutch specialties 6 puck unsprung, cable transmission.
I really need help as to what it could be and what I have to do to fix it. I really dont want to have to pull the motor, my parents would freak and I need the car asap.
Someone Please HELP!

The shaft that goes through the bell housing that connects the clutch disengauge fork to the "lever".. There is a bolt that make the two join with each other.. If you didnt remove it then its probably ok..
Is your tranny all the way tight against the engine block?
Ill try to find you a pic of what im talking about..

The tranny is 100% against the block
I bought this transmission used from a guy who parted out the car, he might have taken out this bolt but I dunno what you mean
all i played with was the 2 clips that hold the throuwout bearing
Why would the lever goes up and down and touch the finger though when raised?
Thanks for helping man

Look at the red dot, thats where the bolt is..
It connects the shaft to the throwout bearing fork..

and you think my tranny might be missing the one bolt so my bearing is still moving but not taking the shaft with it? does that work?
Makes sence to me but I dunno
Happen to know the size of that bolt? Allnighter if more people chime in
Thanks alot tgreaves, I love this website

OK
SO I just went out to the garage and found a spare d16 tranny I have, I got the bolt you say i need
But when you remove that bolt and push up on the cable lever it just spinsinside the tranny andthe throwout bearing doesnt move, why woud I be hearing a spring type clink when I pul the lever up quickly and let it hit whatever it is hitting, to me it sounds like a noice the little presure fingers would make when hit, but i dunno
I need help!!

Actually is the bolt that connects the lift rod/shaft to the throwout fork/throwout bearing.. The tolerances are very tight there so the bearing will still move in and out without the bolt but would just spin once it hits the clutch splines..
Either way I think your still going to need to remove the tranny from the car and find the problem..

Im pretty sure I'll have to drop the tranny
But when I removed the bolt from my other tranny on the floor here I could move the lever and it would spin in place without moving the bearing
i dunno
someone also said I could have a clutch component on backwards....
Im so lost

Re: HUGE CLUTCH TRANNY PROBLEM!! What Could It Be?? (Oceanic)
Everything was flush though, clutch disk against the flywheel and pressure plate against the clutch disk
Would this cause what im syaing?
Cause Im pretty sure when I installed the throwout bearing with teh tranny out I moved the lever a couple times to make sure it was smooth and I remember it coming out easily
I really dont think its the bolt
What could it be

good luck with finding out the problem. i know exactly how your feeling. i finished with my build/install yesterday and when i put it into gear and let off the clutch it didnt go any where. my heart dropped. turned out my bro didnt put the axel on all the way.
