How to take out CHECK ENGINE lightbulb?
Hey...don't flame me, as I'm just a chick and have never had to deal with this problem before
...but...
I just got a letter for emissions saying I have to take my car in this month. My CHECK ENGINE light is on (I had a ZC swapped in and obviously it can't read the VTEC sensor b/c...yeah, there is no more VTEC).
What do I need to do to take the bulb out? Do I just take out the gauge cluster? If so, will it be right behind it?

Why would you want to pull it out? Removing the Check Engine bulb won't solve anything. Part of the emission check procedure is to verify that the bulb does indeed work, which is done by turning the ignition key to the "ON" position. It should illuminate but go out shortly after the engine is started.
The only way to keep the Check Engine light off but otherwise pass the bulb test is to fix the root cause of the problem.

My new motor...does NOT have VTEC. The check engine light is on b/c the sensor is looking for the non-existant VTEC. How can I possibly have that fixed?
Can the sensor itself be removed?

Try an Integra LS ECU. All the correct sensors should be on the ZC to satisfy the LS ECU. The only thing might be the IAC motor. I think D series(ZC?) have a 3 wire plug while B series(LS) have 2 wire.
If your ZC has 3 wire, then just ground the 3rd wire...
Depending on how strict inspectors are,how the system is, and what state your in,you could get away with taking the bulb out...
Take the guage cluster out and flip it.Youll see all the little bulbs in the back of the cluster.
But you really should run the ZC computer. Im pretty sure the LS will work, correct me if Im wrong...

I just thought what may be easier and cheaper...
Get the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch and plug them in. They wont be functional but it should satisfy the ECU and clear your CEL...
Or you could find out the resistance of each sensor and go to Radio Shack and buy the appropriate resistors <-----------cheapest way, less than $5...
