how to set timing when......
I'm having a hell of a time here. I can't get the timing right on my girls prelude motor. it's got an aftermarket flywheel and the marks on it won't line up properly when everything else is lined up, for example the crank. It's in between both marks (7.5 Deg.??) Should i go by the marks on the flywheel and not worry about the pointer on the crankshaft lining up on the block?? any help is greatly appreciated I need to get this thing running. one thing i should mention is that it runs somewhat okay but dies after getting off the accelerator so i guess its close??
w/aftermarket flywheel?? i just did one on an h22 also for my lil bro and its perfect. The marks on this one don't line up.... won't line up so my question is what should i do. I know it should line up.
Use a piston stop to find TDC on number one cylinder, then put a new line up mark on the flywheel. You can then use an advance timing light to set your timing. I ran into the same issue a long time ago.
Yea thats the only thing i could think of. I just used a big punch last time to see when it was up but maybe it was off when i actually got it all on....well thanks. I'll give it another try tomorrow.
