Default How sensitive is a d16y8

We just bought a wrecked 96 civic ex coupe as a parts car to rebuild my sons 97 dx coupe that he burned up the motor in.

Anyways we got the car home went to start it and it almost started then died and wouldn't start again. After looking it over it seems the tbelt jumped. My question is what is the likely it did valve damage. I won't be able to tear it apart and reset it for a couple days. It looks like it only jumped a tooth or two.

If it was 1-2 teeth then you do not have a problem. 94

I would tear it down when I had time, and reset everything to spec. You'll know if it runs without spending any more money on it. If it doesn't then oh well part the car out if it does, prep for the swap.
